On the second day of the plenary session of the 13th International Research-to-Practice Conference of the AEO "Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools", Toshiya Chichibu, Senior Researcher at Japan's National Institute for Educational Policy Research, delivered a presentation on "Building professional capital in Kazakhstani schools through the implementation of the Lesson Study approach". The Institute is a regular partner of the Center of Excellence.
Toshiya Chichibu presented the results of a 3-year study that involved more than 9,000 teachers nationwide.
Monitoring of the schools conducting the Lesson Study revealed high results.
For example, nineteen percent of teachers meet weekly (plan, observe, discuss). And more than fifty percent meet regularly once or twice a month.
In addition, Toshiya Chichibu took part in a session on the use of transcribing in the Lesson Study for teacher-researchers-practitioners and shared his suggestions.
We should remind that Toshiya Chichibu has been involved in the professional development of the CoE trainers in Lesson Study practice since 2012.
