15 January 2020. From 6 to 31 January 2020, the National Education Institute of Turkmenistan hosts a new series of seminars implemented by Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools JSC Kazakhstan (NIS), and organized by the EU project "Support of the Turkmenistan Education System". The training continues previous efforts, based on the memorandum, signed 14 November 2018 between the EU project and NIS.
During the four weeks, four certified trainers from the Center of Excellence teach 200 teachers from schools and vocational and technical institutions on "Study of Teacher's Practice" and "Assessment of Educational Achievements based on Criteria". The training includes tools for assessing the quality of teaching, certification of knowledge, diversity of contents, structures, forms and technologies of educational services. Participants learn how to apply formative assessment strategies in the teaching process. They familiarize with state-of-the-art methods and techniques to evaluate student performance. Real-time formative assessment allows teachers to monitor student learning as it happens and adjust their teaching accordingly. It may also enable the active participation of more students in classroom discussions.
The workshop confirms that high-quality education is unthinkable without reference to global standards. To cope with the accelerating pace of change in society, technology and education, international cooperation is not a nice-to-have, but a crucial must-have. There is no high-quality national education without incorporating the best knowledge and practice, without continual learning that considers the latest results in research and practice, exchange permanently perception and experience, increases agility and resilience, and addressing emerging challenges pro-actively. The example of the cooperation with NIS proves that regional cooperation can be a catalyst for win-win-solutions, allowing to increase the efficiency of investment in human capital as the most precious and valuable resource of any society.
