In 27 July 2020, the Center of Excellence of “Nazarbayev Intellectual schools” AEO is going to run the massive open online course “Learning to teach virtually” for Kazakhstani teachers in Kazakh and Russian languages.
The course is based on the results of a study conducted in the form of an online survey of more than 18 thousand school leaders and teachers, as well as the results of observing more than 300 online lessons in the fourth quarter of the last academic year. The number of schools in the study is 1040. The study was conducted in order to determine the professional problems and difficulties of teachers in the period of introduction of distance education and to develop further ways of methodological support for teachers.
Teachers will get the new knowledge about key notions and trends of the distance education on a publicly available international platform stepik.org.
The course programme consists of four actual modules: features of the distance education, involvement of students in the educational process, ICT tools and service providers, professional collaboration and pedagogical support of parents.
Much attention will be paid to the skills of planning and broadcasting online lessons, assessing the educational achievements of students, activity management on the educational platforms portal.kundelik.kz, daryn.online. It provides for education of teaching staff how to work in a virtual teacher's room for joint planning and observing of lessons.
Each online course topic contains relevant materials and resources for self-study. At the same time, the always-on feedback between the participant and the trainer-developer is provided through comments after each module and at the end of the course.
A schedule of weekly webinars on the issues that caused the greatest difficulties was drawn up for methodological support of teachers from 17 regions of the country (the moderation of course participants’ questions will be daily).
Teachers, including students of pedagogical specialties of higher educational institutions have the opportunity to learn from the course until the end of this year.
This course will be held in an asynchronous format, which will allow participants to choose their own time and pace for acquiring knowledge.
