On April 13-17, 2020, the trainers of Center of Excellence (hereinafter-CoE) conducted 305 online lessons observations on 11 subjects in grades 7-11 of Nazarbayev Intellectual schools with the purpose to provide methodological support to NIS teachers .
Based on the results of the observation, methodological recommendations for teachers and administration were compiled and sent to schools.
Important result of this work was a series of 20 webinars developed and conducted by CoE trainers on May, 5-6 and on May, 11-13, 2020. The topics of the webinars were defined based on the needs of teachers: teaching and learning methods, assessment of students ' academic achievements, and work with various online services to increase interest in the process of learning.
During the webinars, a professional dialogue was held on the general topic of organizing effective training of students in the frame of distance learning from different aspects. Together with the teachers, the practical activities of the teacher and the student online and offline modes were considered; the students` training plan for a quarter, a week; issues of concentration of students ' attention during an online lesson; problems of motivation when teaching on online platforms; the teachers` use of work forms in the organization of differentiated training, as well as tools for formative assessment and providing feedback.
Subject teachers noted that in a few weeks of working in a remote format, webinars, as open platforms, have become the most optimal system and collaborative environment for the exchange of experience and ideas. Each webinar had its own clear structure, participants could ask questions, participate in group discussions, leave feedback, and determine the direction of methodological support for future collaboration.
Webinars participants feedback
I think that webinars conducted by trainers during distance learning is very timely for the methodological support of teachers. Each of these topics help us analyze our teaching and learning practices in a new format. There was an opportunity to exchange experience and discuss effective methods of differentiation, forms of work with students.
