On 8 February 2021, the Center of Excellence together with the Nur-Sultan Center for Modernisation of Education, held an online seminar on “What should be considered when designing summative assessment tasks?” for subject teachers of schools in the capital. More than 1000 teachers took part in the event. The participants of the online seminar analysed the specifics of developing summative assessment tasks and discussed the issues arising in the development of summative assessment tasks.
Teachers of the core subjects, working in breakout groups, discussed the following issues arising from school practice:
-
Which normative and methodological documents should be used when organising and conducting summative assessment?
How to determine which learning goals will prevail in summative assessment by unit?
-
How can the specification be used to develop tasks for summative assessment for a quarter?
How should resources be selected when designing summative assessments?
Teachers expressed their willingness to meet with colleagues from other schools every quarter in webinars on assessment, as these are the issues that cause the greatest difficulty for subject teachers.
